2019-2020 Quake® Pro League - Quake World Championship

Earlier this month the 2019-2020 Quake Pro League culminated at the Quake World Championship which took place during the QuakeCon At Home Virtual event! In case you missed it, Liquid Rapha solidified his legendary status as he defeated Myztro Raisy 4-0 in the Grand Finals becoming the 2019-2020 Quake World Champion!

The 2020-2021 Quake Pro League season will be split into three stages with players from all over the world competing for prizing and their chance to become the Quake World Champion! Each stage will span thirteen weeks of region-based round robin matches broadcast live from PGL Studios every Sunday. During the regular season, players will compete to earn prizes and regional rank culminating in a three day international final event for additional prizing and a chance to get their named etched into the Championship Belt.

Regular Season Format:

Points are gone! And now players will earn their share of prize pool for each regular season map victory.

Like last year, players will be divided into two divisions: The Americas and Europe. Over the course of thirteen weeks players within their division will battle one another in round robin play. Their records will determine their prizing and more importantly their seeds leading into the the stage finals!

Stage Finals Format:

The Americas, Europe and their respecitve Challengers will congregate in a three day studio event. A twenty four person double elimination bracket will be generated based on regular season performance (single elimination for challenger matches). This bracket will integrate both regions based on their respective seeds as displayed below:

The first two stage finals are currently planned as live studio events at the PGL Studio in Bucharest, Romania. And once again, our Stage 3 Quake World Championship will take place at QuakeCon 2021.

However, due to the ever changing landscape with the pandemic safety for our players, casters, and broadcast team is our highest priority and therefore stage finals may be required to be played online.

Challengers: challengers

The Challengers competitions will span nine weeks. Players will compete in a single elimination bracket for the first eight weeks. Top two players in each of these online competitions will qualify to the Challengers Playoffs that will take place week nine. The Challengers Playoffs will consist of a sixteen person double elimination bracket. Top two players in both The Americas and Europe region will participate in their respective Stage Finals for a chance to earn their spot in the League and etch their name on the World Championship Belt!
